Sooners 11th After 36 Holes

NORMAN, Okla. - The No. 58 University of Oklahoma women's golf team ended day one at the 15-team Kent Youel Invitational in 11th place with a two-round 609 (+33) on Tuesday.  The University of Hawai'i is hosting the 17-team tournament at the 6,140-yard, par-72 Kapolei Golf Course in Kapolei, Hawai'i.

The Sooners are just outside of the top 10, trailing Fresno State and UC-Riverside by four shots each.

Senior Kendall Dye shot a 2-over-par 74 in the first round and carded a 75 in the second to stand in a tie for 25th place with a 149 (+5).  Ellen Mueller is in 31st place, just one shot behind Dye.  Mueller, a sophomore who shot a 76 in the first round, turned in a solid 2-over 74 on the second 18.

Freshman Kelly Short, who is coming off a team-best eighth-place finish at the Price's "Give `Em Five" Invitational, fired a 76 and 77 in the first and second rounds, respectively, landing her in a tie for 38th place.  Fellow freshman Brooke Collins stands in 60th place with a two-round 157 (+13).  Sophomore Sara Hemingway shot a first-round 87 before withdrawing in the second round.

The Sooners wrap up the final 18 holes of their last fall tournament on Wednesday beginning at 12:30 p.m. CDT.
