NORMAN, Okla. - Billy Packer, longtime college basketball television analyst, will be the featured speaker at the University of Oklahoma mens basketball 1999 Tip-Off Banquet Friday, Nov. 5. The event, which is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. on the Lloyd Noble Center floor, will help raise money for proposed arena renovations.
One of the most recognized and respected figures involved with college basketball today, Packer has covered 24 NCAA Division I Mens Basketball Championships, the last 17 for CBS Sports. In 1993, he won the Sports Emmy award as outstanding sports personality/analyst.

The Sooners open their 1999-2000 season Saturday, Nov. 6, at 7 p.m. with a home exhibition game against the Mexican National Team. Last year, Oklahoma finished 22-11 overall and advanced to the NCAA Tournaments Sweet 16 before losing to eventual Final Four participant Michigan State by eight points.
