PLANO, Texas - Current University of Oklahoma gymnast Hollie Vise traveled home to Plano, Texas, on Wednesday as the WOGA Gymnastics Academy conducted a special medal ceremony, honoring WOGA's gymnasts that have won a total of 21 Olympic and World Championship medals - including Vise's two gold medals from the 2003 World Championships.
Vise was in elite company at the ceremony, as she was re-united with Nastia Liukin and Carly Patterson, who combined for the other 19 medals won by WOGA gymnasts. Liukin was the 2008 Olympic all-around champion in Beijing, while Patterson took home the all-around title at the '04 Olympic Games in Athens.
"I will always cherish my time at WOGA and it was great to get the chance to catch up with Carly, Nastia and all of the other familiar faces from my time in the gym," said Vise. "Those are the people that have helped me to where I am today and I am forever grateful for their hard work and dedication to myself and the sport of gymnastics."
Among the attendees at Wednesday's ceremony were Plano mayor Pat Evans and former Frisco mayor Mike Simpson.
Bolstering the U.S. squad to the '03 World Championship crown, Vise performed in both the beam and uneven bars lineup. The Dallas, Texas, native also stuck a near-flawless uneven bars routine in the event finals, winning her second gold medal of the competition.
