NORMAN, Okla. - In its third meet of the season, the Oklahoma women's gymnastics team (3-1) travels to Denton, Texas, on Saturday, Jan. 26, for a triangular meet with host Texas Woman's and Southern Utah.

"We feel we're one of the top six teams in the country so we want to go on the road and prove ourselves this weekend," said head coach Steve Nunno. "We're going to rest two of our atheletes but that will give our backups some experience. TWU has a competitive venue and a good crowd and we're going to be ready for that."

Senior Mariana Goncalves was named Big 12 Conference Gymnast of the Week after leading the Sooners over Ohio State last weekend after posting a meet and career-high all-around score. She will be looked to lead the team again this weekend. Oklahoma posted the fourth-highest team score in the nation with a 196.475, which would mark its highest ranking in the program's history.

Texas Woman's enters the meet with a 3-0 record, with wins over Wisconsin-LaCrosse, Wisconsin-River Falls and Maryland. Southern Utah will be competing in its first event of the season.

"When we competed against TWU last year, they hit in every event and made it a close one for us. I think this year they have the strongest team they've had in a while. Southern Utah hasn't competed yet this year, and I have never gone up against them as a coach."
