DENTON, Texas -- The University of Oklahoma women's gymnastics team were victorious in Denton, Texas, for the second time in 15 days when they won a tri-meet Saturday, defeating Texas Woman's University and Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
The No. 10 Sooners (8-1) won every event and showed balance with four different individual winners. They also scored a season-high 196.225 en route to victory. The Pioneers and Wisconsin-Eau Claire finished with final tallies of 191.600 and 173.450, respectively.
OU continued to be led by sophomore Leticia Ishii, who won her third all-around title in four meets this season. Ishii's AA score of 39.450 was her highest of the year. The Brazilian native also won the beam (9.900).
Sophomore Leah Mueller continued her excellence on the vault with her fourth victory in as many meets with a 9.900 while sophomore Patricia Aoki garnered first place on the floor exercise (9.925) for the third time this year. Junior Mariana Goncalves won her first individual event in 2001 with a 9.975 on bars. Goncalves score was the highest individual score for OU so far this season.
Oklahoma travels to Nebraska to compete in a dual meet next Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in Lincoln, Neb.
