NORMAN, Okla. --The No.32 Oklahoma women’s golf team jumped to first place after shooting a second-round 292 (+12) at the Big 12 Championship Saturday at the Club at Lawrence Golf Club in Lawrence Kan. OU, which entered the day in fourth place, turned in the lowest score of the second round and holds a five-shot lead over second-place Iowa State.

The leaderboard is tight at the top, with third-place Baylor trailing the Sooners by just seven shots and fourth-place Oklahoma State by eight.

“I am really pleased with today’s round,” said OU head Coach Veronique Drouin. “We are sitting right where we need to be going into the final round and I am really proud of our girls.”

OU sophomore Chirapat Jao-Javanil continues to lead the field after recording a team-best 70 (E) Saturday. She recorded four birdies and four bogeys on the day and now boats a two-day total of 145 for a two-shot lead over Baylor’s Hayley Davis.

Fellow OU sophomore Anne-Catherine Tanguay moved up one spot to third place out of 50 golfers, three shots behind Jao-Javanil. Tanguay shot a 2-over 72 Saturday, bringing her two-round total to 148 (+8).

Junior Taylor Schmidt registered four birdies en route to a 4-over 74 Saturday. Her two-round total of 157 (+14) has her in a tie for 15th place.

Junior Jacki Marshall shot a 76 (+6) to finish the round in a tie for 19th place, while sophomore Emily Collins shot a 77 (+7) to stand in tie for 35th place.
