Head coach Kelvin Sampson
On Georgia State:
"Georgia State is a team that has talent. They force you to have to guard them."
On the team's progress:
"We're headed north. We're getting better. We're better than we were last week. We were able to maintain our defensive intensity throughout the game."
On sophomore Johnnie Gilbert:
"He's not playing any better, he's just healthy. I think it was a good investment for us to take him off the practice court for two weeks."
"Johnnie Gilbert, to me, was our star of the game. Johnnie should have the freshest legs in America."
On his team's academic success:
"This was a great semester for us academically. We had more A's and B's this semester than we ever have."
Senior Hollis Price
On OU's inside presence:
"They did a good job. We worked on that all week in practice. We are trying to find those guys in the post and feed them more. Kevin Bookout and Johnnie Gilbert did a great job. He had been out for about three weeks and we fed off his energy. Jozsef Szendrei did a great job down low as well. When they play well it opens up shots for us (guards) on the perimeter."
On his homecoming game in New Orleans against Mississippi State next Saturday:
"It is going to be a fun homecoming for Quannas (White) and me. Mississippi State is a good team who keeps getting better. I think they have only lost one game and now they have their big guy back, Mario Austin. He's done a great job since he's been back."
Sophomore Johnnie Gilbert
On his inside game:
"I felt a bounce in my step today. I've been working really hard in practice on getting above the rim. Today I felt like jumping as much as I could to get the ball. I was definitely looking for the ball more and that is what our coaches have been telling me to do."
On the upcoming game with Mississippi State in New Orleans:
"It's going to be big time. I've never been to New Orleans, so that is exciting. At the same time we are playing a big-time team in Mississippi State. That should be good experience, especially going against Mario Austin."
Georgia State Head Coach Charles "Lefty" Driesell
On the Game:
"The most we got out of this game was $45,000, a free bus and two nights at a free motel. I really think our guys learned something. We got a lot of guys who think they're a lot better than they are. I think they found out tonight they better get to work if they want to be players. Oklahoma has a nice team, I would like to have their second team. They played well tonight. They're going to play tougher teams than us, but we are not going to play anyone else as tough the rest of the year. So good luck to them, they beat our butt tonight. What can I say, we got $45,000 out of it."
