The University of Oklahoma Sooner track and field team will host the annual All Comers Meet on Saturday, Dec. 2. The meet is the indoor season opener for OU and will be held at the Mosier Indoor Facility.

A Big Field
A total of 21 schools and track clubs will be participating in the opening meet of the NCAA season. Joining the host Sooners in the field are the Barton Track Club, Baylor, LC Express Track Club, Langston, New Era Sprint Club, Oklahoma Alumni, Oklahoma Baptist, Oklahoma State (women only), Oral Roberts, Pioneer Track Club, Southern Methodist, Southern Nazarene, Texas A&M, Tulsa, Nevada-Las Vegas (women only), Arkansas (women only), Central Oklahoma, North Texas, Texas-Arlington and Wichita State. While all will not have complete teams, the number of entries will make this one of the bigger indoor meets for the Sooners to host this season.

Marks posted at this meet may be used toward qualifying for the NCAA Indoor Championship to be held March 9-10 in Fayetteville, Ark.

Last Year
Two competitors from Southern Methodist earned NCAA automatic qualifying marks at the 1999 All Comers Meet. Four NCAA provisional marks were posted and facility records were changed in six events at the '99 meet.

This Year's Team
The Sooners are coming off a great year with the women finishing fifth in the Big XII Indoor and the men finishing eighth. The Sooners had five indoor All-Americans and two of those, senior LaBoris Bean and junior Raoul Harvey, are back. The two were members of OU's second-place NCAA 1600-meter relay team. OU also crowned one Big XII Indoor champion. Staneshia Bell, the first Sooner woman to win a Big XII indoor title, is back in the sprints. Her title came in the 60-meter dash.

Next Up
OU's combined event competitors will head to Manhattan, Kan., next Saturday for the KSU Combined. The rest of the Sooner team will not compete again until the weekend of Jan. 19-20. The pole vaulters will head to the Reno Summit while the remainder of the team stays in Norman to host the OU Classic.
