OU Mens Tennis Concludes Second Day of Tournament Play

NORMAN, Okla. The Oklahoma men’s tennis team picked up several victories on Saturday while splitting its squad in two competitions this weekend in Annapolis, Md. and Tulsa.  The Sooner men swept Navy, 7-0, while the remainder of the team competed well in the Tulsa Invitational.

The six Sooner men in Annapolis took all of the matches against their opponents in singles action.   The only struggle of the day was for freshman Razvan Axente defeating Alex James in a three-set match, 6-3,2-6,6-3. 

In doubles action, the men also swept Navy, with an exhilarating match when the duo of senior Silviu Tanasoiu and junior Alexei Ivanov defeated Davy Lee and Adrian Lai, 9-8.

Oklahoma will face Arkansas on Sunday at 8 a.m. (CST) on the last day of play in the Navy Invitational.

In Tulsa, the Sooners went 1-1 in singles action and picked up a doubles victory.  Junior Tommy Garrison defeated Diego Camacho of Tulsa, 7-5, 7-5.  The duo of Garrison and Fukala overcame SMU’s McNaughton and Enberg, 8-5.

The Sooners resume play on Sunday at 9 a.m. (CST) on the last day of play in the Hurricane Invitational.
