NORMAN, Okla. — The Oklahoma Track and Field program kicks off the 2011 outdoor season this weekend as three throwers compete in Friday’s Tulsa Duels. Holden Mitchell, Angel Togafau and Bailey Wagner will all compete in the hammer throw that will actually be contested in Stillwater, Okla., on the campus of Oklahoma State University.

Mitchell will be looking to replicate his 2010 season-opening performance when he won the hammer throw title at the Horned Frog Invitational. The sophomore from Bartlesville, Okla., enters the season with a personal-best throw of 178-10 (54.52).

Both in their first year of competition at Oklahoma, Togafau and Wagner will have an opportunity to add their name to OU’s performance lists in the event. Togafau comes to Oklahoma from Golden West CC where she won the hammer throw title at the 2010 California Community College State Championships. Wagner is a transfer from Georiga Tech where she finished seventh in the hammer throw at the 2010 ACC Championships. Wagner also won the discus title at the event and was sixth in the shot put.
