OKLAHOMA

OU Head Coach Sherri Coale

On the game:
"I thought we had a tremendous second half. I can't fault the ladies' effort. I thought we scratched and clawed. We were right there at the end. We had a chance but Texas made their free throws down the stretch, which is what a good team will do. The stat sheet says we should have won. We had 15 assists and 11 turnovers. We only get beat on the boards by one. We had 23 field goals, they only had 18 and we both had three from behind the arc. The stat sheet says we should have won."

On the shot selection:
"We forced a few but we have had a tendency to be a slow starter lately and have had trouble getting shots to go down early. It has a tendency to make us a little panicky. When we went flat in the first and Dionnah tried taking them one on one, they came over with their post girls to help. We weren't finding the open guy and we took some contested shots. We missed a lot of good clean opens shots. When you open the game with a wide open back screen pass and you miss the layup it deflates you a little bit."

On free throw shootings:
"Two games in a row we have been really lousy from the line but we are used to getting there 25 times instead of 12 and that has something to do with it. When did we shoot our first free throw... with four minutes left in the first half? We have to keep attacking the basket and doing the things we are doing. We expect to get opportunities at the line, this is the way you play this game."

Freshman Chelsi Welch

On her game:
"We have plays that are set up for me. They hold on to you and do stuff to make you take a different path. We had to learn how to create separation to get open shots. We were trying to get any kind of shot we could to go in."

Sophomore Dionnah Jackson

On shooting performance:
"In the first half I felt really odd and couldn't get anything to fall, but then again that is when I have to find the open man. Like Coach Coale says, when I am flat I have to get it to the girl whose defender is doubling. In the second half I came out and I hit some shots, but I still wasn't getting off." TEXAS

Head Coach Jody Conradt

On the game:
"I just can't believe this conference. Every time out it is just a battle and it was definitely that tonight. Oklahoma was really tough. We knew they would play hard and we knew they wouldn't quit and hang in there. And it was just going to be a matter of us making plays down the stretch and we did and that was the difference in the ball game."

On OU getting back in the game at the end:
"They made some really incredible shots. I thought we had them defended on several of those but they made them. And I think in those situations you just have to say "good shot," and get the ball back and try to counter."

Junior Forward Stacy Stephens

On battling down low against Oklahoma:
"I know that every time we play Oklahoma they're going to be all over the place. They have a lot of heart and play hard every game. You've just got to be smart. You've got to know that they're going to come and double and reach in. You've just got to catch the ball and decide what you're going to do with it."

Junior Guard Jamie Carey

On making free throws at the end:
"Honestly, I've shot so many free throws in my life that it's sort of a muscle-memory thing. I used to do a lot of free throw contests when I was young and I'd shoot free throws for hours and hours. I guess it helps that I'm older now and I've played a ton of games in my career. I don't really hear anything at the line."

Senior Guard Tai Dillard

On making clutch shot near the end to stop Oklahoma's momentum:
"I felt really comfortable when I shot it. Our coaches were saying in practice all week that I needed to make sure my feet were set and that I followed through. It felt good to make that shot and to quiet the crowd because they really had some momentum."
