NORMAN, Okla. -- The 17th-ranked University of Oklahoma volleyball team improved to 4-0 and handed No. 15 Colorado State (3-1) its first loss of the season in a sweep (-21, -15, -23) Monday night in Norman.

Oklahoma collected its first win over a ranked opponent this season and the three-set win marks the first time in program history the Sooners swept a top-15 non-conference opponent. The Sooners have swept top-15 teams twice in Big 12 play with wins against No. 12 Missouri in 2006 and No. 5 Nebraska in 1997.

Sophomore Sallie McLaurin (Midwest City, Okla.) led the Sooners with 14 kills, followed closely by senior Suzy Boulavsky (Houston, Texas) with 13 kills. McLaurin also led OU in blocks with six, including five block assists.

Junior Maria Fernandez (Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico) collected a team-best 16 digs. Senior Caitlin Higgins (Amarillo, Texas) had 10 digs. Senior setter Brianne Barker (Amarillo, Texas) recorded 35 assists and four kills.

As a team, Oklahoma totaled 49 kills compared to CSU's 35. The Sooners hit .282, led by Barker and McLaurin, who each hit .400.  OU had four service aces in the three-set match and recorded 48 digs. The Sooners out-blocked the Rams 10.5-6.5.

Colorado State junior Megan Plourde hit .462, with the Rams hitting .162 as a team. CSU registered 45 digs and three service aces. Katelyn Steffan led the Rams with 11 kills. Deedra Foss had 32 assists, while Izzy Gaulia was the team-leader with 13 digs.

Oklahoma hit .250 or better in each set, with a match-high .326 clip in the first set. The Sooners dropped 19 kills in the bookend frames and managed just three attack errors in the second set. In all, the match featured 22 ties and seven lead changes.

OU trailed 6-2 in the third set before rallying to take the lead at 11-10 and eventually took the match after fending off a late rally by the Rams.

The Sooners travel to Denton, Texas Sept. 2-3 for the North Texas Invitational. OU faces Cincinnati on Friday afternoon at 4:30 CT and North Texas and Sam Houston State on Saturday.  Oklahoma's next home match is Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. CT against Arkansas.
