FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - In its final game of the 1999 season, the University of Oklahoma women's soccer team registered its second consecutive shutout by beating Arkansas, 3-0, in front of 471 fans at Lady'Back Field in Fayetteville, Ark., today. The non-conference win improved the Sooners' season mark to 4-13-1 while Arkansas finished its regular season with a 7-11 record.

OU notched its first score at the 25:44 mark when sophomore Megan Olsen booted the ball into the net after taking a pass from fellow forward Jonette Coquat. It was Olsen's first goal of the season and Coquat's second assist.

Redshirt-freshman forward Shannon Wing tallied an unassisted goal, her third score in five games, at the 27:10 mark to put the Sooners up 2-0. OU's final goal was scored by Jonette Coquat 47:03 into the game. It was her team-leading sixth goal of the year.

"This was a great way to end the season," said Randy Evans, who wrapped up his first campaign at OU. "It's too bad the season is over because everything we've been working on has started to come together. We're playing our best soccer.

"Initially, it looked like today's game could go either way. But we came out, executed very well and finished our scoring chances efficiently. Our goals were the result of great combination work and our entire defense stood out. We gave up some shots, but neither of our goalkeepers had to make the outstanding save."

With its shutout today, the Oklahoma defense did not surrender a goal in the final 251:36 of the season. Freshman keeper Jana Cunningham made four saves in the first half today while junior keeper Ayn Toppin made two saves in the final 45 minutes.
