Twelve OU soccer student-athletes were placed on the Academic All-Big 12 teams, including eight on the first team, the league announced this week. Junior Jana Cunningham was one of three players from the Big 12 to post a 4.0 GPA cumulative.

Members of the first team include senior Jonette Coquat (psychology), Cunningham (French), junior Brittany Davis (Latin American Studies/Spanish), sophomore Heidi Martinson (undecided), senior Christen Secrest (accounting), senior Jessica Volcansek (Spanish), junior Shannon Wing (elementary education) and redshirt freshman Erin Young (health and sport sciences).

Junior Krissy Dawson (criminology), senior Megan Olsen (psychology), sophomore Jessica Talton (undecided) and sophomore Logan Womack (undecided) all earned second-team honors.

Coquat, Olsen, Secrest and Volcansek all earned all-conference academic first-team accolades for the third consecutive year while Cunningham, Davis and Wing were selected for the second time.

To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.0 grade-point average or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in sixty percent of her team's scheduled contests. Freshman and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are eligible. First-team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.2 or better grade-point average, while the second team are those who have a 3.0 to 3.19 GPA.
