Sooners Fare Well In Individual NCAA Finals

NORMAN, Okla. - One night after winning the 2002 national championship, the Oklahoma men's gymnastics team notched three second place finishes on the vault, parallel bar and high bar. Minnesota's Clay Strother claimed the floor exercise and pommol horse titles. Stanford's Marshall Erwin and Dan Gill won the rings and vault, respectively. Rounding out competition, California's Cody Moore claimed the parallel bar title, while Michigan's Daniel Diaz-Luong won the high bar.

Senior Everette Bierker ended his four-year career in style with a second place finish on the parallel bars and a third place showing on the high bar. After a first place finish on the high bar last night, junior Quinn Rowell finished second in the finals. Sophomore Jock Stevens, who also finished first on the vault last night, took second place. Junior Daniel Furney ended the night with a third place showing on the vault, a fourth place finish on the high bar and a seventh place showing on the parallel bars.

Also for the Sooners, junior Shannon Carrion and freshman David Henderson were third and fourth on the rings, respectively). Junior Josh Landis ended the night seventh on the floor exercise.
