OU's No. 1 Women's Tennis Doubles Team Drops First Match

Malibu, Calif. - Oklahoma's top women's doubles team of senior Angela Stroup (Tulsa, Okla.) and junior Viviana Mracnova (Zvolen, Slovakia) suffered a 1-6, 7-5, 6-7 loss to 15th-ranked Michelle Dasso and Becky Varnum of Notre Dame at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center in the first round match of the NCAA Tennis Individual and Doubles Championships in Malibu, Calif.

The duo, who's ranked 43rd in the nation, became the third doubles pair in school history to advance to the national tournament. They end the 2000 campaign with an overall doubles record of 17-6 and All-Big 12 Conference honors.
