DALLAS - The University of Oklahoma men's basketball team was picked to finish in fourth place in a poll of Big 12 coaches, the league announced. The Sooners, who finished 22-11 and advanced to the NCAA Tournament's Sweet 16 last year, were predicted to finish behind Kansas, Texas and Oklahoma State, respectively.

Senior forward Eduardo Najera, a preseason All-American who led Oklahoma in scoring and rebounding last year, was one of five players named to the preseason all-league first team. Others were Iowa State forward Marcus Fizer, Kansas center Eric Chenowith, Oklahoma State forward Desmond Mason and Texas center Chris Mihm. Mihm was voted preseason player of the year.

Baylor forward Terry Black, a junior college transfer, was selected preseason newcomer of the year while Kansas forward Nick Collison was named preseason freshman of the year. OU freshman guards Jarrett Hart and Hollis Price also received votes from the head coaches.

A preseason media poll will be announced by the Big 12 late next week.
