Sooners Jump to 11th in AZ

NORMAN, Okla. – The University of Oklahoma women’s golf team stands in 14th place after the first round of the MountainView Collegiate on Saturday.  The team posted a score of 305 (+17) at the 6,263-yard, par- 72 MountainView Golf Course. 
The Sooners stand just five strokes shy of the top 10 after the first round, while San Jose stands in first with a team score of 284 (-4).
Sophomore Ellen Mueller paced the Sooners with a first-round 75 (+3) tied for 33rd place, followed by Kendall Dye in 48th place.  The senior stands one stroke back from Mueller after a 76 on Saturday.

Freshman Kelly Short and senior Staci Smoot both stand one stroke behind Dye at +5, tied for 55th place.  Junior Ryanne Elmer rounded out the scoring for the Sooners with an 82 (+10).  Individual competitor Chelsey Collins posted a 88 (+16). 
The second round of the MountainView Collegiate is currently underway.  Please check later this evening for complete second round results.  


NORMAN, Okla. - With a second round team score of 299 (+11), the Sooners improved their standing to 11th place at the MountainView Collegiate. 

Kendall Dye stepped up her game by posting a one-under-par 71 en route to her tied 19th place standing.  Ellen Mueller showed her consistency with a second round 75 (+3) just as she did in round one.  The sophomore stepped back only spot to a tied 34th place through 36 holes.

Freshman Kelly Short moved up seven spots to a tied 48th place with her second round 76 (+4), while Staci Smoot turned a second round 77 (+5) keeping her in a tie for 55th.  Ryanne Elmer improved her game with a second round score of 79 (+7).

Competiting individually, Chelsey Collins made an impressive comeback during the second round with a 76 (+4). 

The Sooners return to action for the final round Sunday at 8 a.m. CT.
