Head Coach Sherri Coale
On the game:
"I thought we really fought for 40 minutes. I am proud of our guys. I thought we played hard. You have got to be able to make a few more shots than that against a team like Baylor. When you can't get to the rim you have got to make some 3s. We had some good looks that we missed and we had some layups that were pretty good looks too. That is what all that speed and athleticism can do to you. I was really proud of us I thought we fought really hard and battled and did some good things."
On if they could have done more when Griner was in foul trouble:
"I think we got a lot out of that time. We had it at 4 and a chance, three chances actually to cut it to two and we just weren't able to connect on really good looks. So you go into halftime down seven you are still in a really good spot."
On OU's shot selection:
"For the most part I thought we got high quality shots. We could have had a little more movement; I think it would have bothered them more, our movement away from the ball. There was a few times where I think we forced layups when we had kicks. We could have kicked to shooters in the corners. But, again we were being aggressive and we were trying to go make plays and I like that."
On 3-point shooting as a game plan against Baylor:
"That is a big part of the game plan for Oklahoma. That is what we do. That is how we play. Our strength is our 3-point shooters.
"We got some good ones. We might have forced a few, but we got some really good looks. That is an uncharacteristic percentage for our team, especially on our home court. We have shot better on our home floor."
On having a break before the next game:
"It has been a rigorous eight days. It has really been tough. It would have been tough for any team but especially for a team with a roster as small as ours is now. This is a much needed break and take a big gulp of air and get ready for the final month of the season."
Sophomore G Sharane Campbell
About a sluggish start to the first half:
"We were just stuck. We tried to stick to our game plan but Brittney [Griner] got a couple of catches and that's the difference. She caught the ball and shot it. You can't do much when the ball is in her hands."
Junior C Nicole Griffin
On early in the half:
"They got the shots that they wanted. We were sticking to our game plan and after awhile we started catching up and understanding what they were trying to do. When Brittney got into foul trouble, we grew from there and taking away what they wanted."
On playing against Griner:
"Any experience of going up against a different kind of player is going to help you get better. I would have to learn to finish the layup stretched out. I had to shoot over her and jump more, it's different going up against her."
Head Coach Kim Mulkey
On the game:
"I thought the foul trouble changed the whole complexion of the first half and I just had to weather the storm once we got in foul trouble. We started the second half like we actually did the game, and extended the lead and we did OK."
On the stretch where Brittney Griner was on the bench in foul trouble:
"I think we were up 16, I'm not exactly sure, and then they cut it. Then Brooklyn [Pope] got in foul trouble and then we had Sune [Agbuke]. We had several with two fouls. I never felt the sense that I had to put Griner back in. I felt like we were just going to need to weather the storm and it allowed some other players to gain some valuable experience on the road. And we have two more to go."
On setting the tone at the beginning of the second half:
"We ran, just like we did at the beginning of the game. We came out, pushed the ball and got a lot of transition baskets. I thought we needed to get to the foul line more. We didn't get to the foul line as much as I would've liked in the first half. We didn't panic. We shouldn't panic. You have too much experience on that floor. We're just trying to finish this thing off the right way and you have a lot of kids that don't get many minutes that got to play today."
Senior C Brittney Griner
On the physicality of the game and her fouls:
"I guess you'd say those were two silly fouls on me. I wouldn't say it was that physical, [just] silly fouls I picked up."
On the frustration of sitting on the bench:
"It's always frustrating when you have to sit on the bench and you can't help your team out. They cut it to four; I didn't get too worried though because I know my team and I know that they'll respond."
On setting the tone in the second half:
"I sat out most of the first half, so I knew I had to come out the second half and start off strong and attack and just do something to give my team a start."
