DENTON, Texas - The University of Oklahoma women's gymnastics team defeated No.6 Louisiana State tonight (195.800-195.775) in quad-meet competition in Denton, Texas. Host Texas Woman's (193.275) and Illinois-Chicago (192.400) took third and fourth-place team honors. The Sooners' overall season record moved to 6-1.

Oklahoma swept all events claiming first, second and third-place spots. Redshirt-freshman Leticia Ishii garnered her third all-around title this year with a career-high score of 39.550, while Abbey Burns (39.250) of LSU and OU senior Amber McCracken (39.175) ended with second and third-place all-around honors. McCracken highlighted the uneven parallel bars competition by taking first place with a career-high 9.975. Ishii's season-high 9.925 in the same event gave her a third-place finish behind Burns and LSU's Marina Degteva. Ishii placed first on the balance beam with a season-high 9.925, while McCracken, ranked No. 6 nationally on the vault, was named the vault and co-floor champion with scores of 9.900. Senior Ginger Russell finished second in a three-way tie behind McCracken with a score of 9.825 in the vault.

"Our gymnasts had a magnificent finish tonight," said Head Coach Becky Buwick. "We were able to go out and beat the No. 6 team in the country after LSU defeated the first and second-place teams in the nation in the last two weeks."

Oklahoma made school history as it scored a 49.475 on the uneven parallel bars. The former bars record (49.375) was set on March 17, 1999.

The Sooner women and men are back in action this Friday at the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman, Okla. Both teams will meet Air Force at 7 p.m.
