NORMAN, Okla. -- The Oklahoma men’s tennis team (15-6, 1-4 Big 12) will host their final back-to-back matches of the season against Nebraska (9-11, 0-6 Big 12) on Sat., April 17, and Texas Tech (11-9, 2-3 Big 12) on Sun., April 18, at the OU Headington Family Tennis Center in Norman. Action is set to begin at 12 p.m. both days. Admission is free.
The Sooners look to improve their conference record before the Big 12 Championships in Norman. OU has not defeated Nebraska since 2000 when the Sooners blanked the Huskers, 7-0. In the 2003 season, Nebraska barely slid by Oklahoma, winning 4-3, in Lincoln, Neb.
Upon head coach Paul Lockwood’s arrival in 1988, Oklahoma has won four of the seven meetings versus Texas Tech. The Red Raiders only gave up one point to the Sooners in 2003, posting a 6-1 victory in Lubbock, Texas.
Leading the Sooners in Big 12 doubles action is sophomore Lee Gregg (Altus, Okla.) and freshman Marek Velicka (Prerov, Czech Republic) with a flawless 3-0 overall record at the No. 3 spot.
OU looks to rebound from a tough 7-0 loss to Bedlam rival Oklahoma State last weekend in Stillwater, Okla.
