NORMAN, Okla. - The No. 33 Oklahoma Sooners (4-1) host the Arkansas Razorbacks (5-3). The match is slated for an 11 a.m. start at the Willow Creek Golf and Country Club in Oklahoma City.
OU returns to action Sunday, Feb. 18, after picking up two victories in Minnesota last weekend. On Feb. 9, the Sooners defeated Minnesota, 4-3, and shut out Wisconsin-Green Bay, 7-0, the following day
The Sooners only dropped three singles matches and one doubles match in their last two outings. Andrei Daescu, ranked No. 21 in singles, won both of his matches to remain perfect this season at 5-0.
"We are excited to be back home for a match because it seems like we have been on the road for the entire season," head coach Paul Lockwood said.
Last season, Oklahoma prevailed over the Razorbacks in Fayetteville, 4-3. Both teams won three each in singles but Oklahoma took the match after winning all three in doubles.
Daescu and Federico Chavarria enter the weekend ranked No. 32 nationally in doubles action and hold a record of 4-1.
Arkansas comes to Oklahoma City after dropping a 4-3 decision to No. 23 Tulsa last weekend in Fayetteville. The loss snapped the `Hogs five-match winning streak that dated back to Feb. 3. Arkansas is led by No. 76 Blake Strode, who is 5-3 in dual matches this season at No. 1 singles.
"Arkansas will present our players with a very tough challenge but we feel that we are more than prepared for this weekend," Lockwood continued. "We have played some excellent tennis on the road and I think returning home for a match will give our players an extra boost."
Next, the Sooners travel up Interstate-44 on Thursday, Feb. 28, as Tulsa plays host at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
