NORMAN, Okla. The University of Oklahoma women's golf team recorded the second-best round of the day at the NCAA Fall Preview in Auburn, Ala., and is in fourth place heading into the final round. The Sooners shot a second-round score of 296 for a two-day total of 592, which leaves OU 11 strokes behind first-place Arizona.
Senior Lisa Meldrum continues to lead the Sooner squad and is tied for sixth place after carding a 75 (+3) for a two-round score of 144 (E). Meldrum trails the the leader (Cassandra Kirkland, Arizona) by only four strokes. Senior Hope Edge continued her stellar play and recorded a 73 (+1) for a total of 145 (+1) and is currently tied for 12th. Sophomore Amparo Gala is tied for 33rd after improving five strokes from her first-round score and shooting a 73 (+1) today. Junior Emily Milberger recorded a second-round 81 (+9) and is tied for 63rd with sophomore Cathryn Uselton who recorded a second-round 75 (+3) for a two-day total of 158 (+14).
The tournament is being played at the 6,215-yard, par-72 Grand National Lake Course and features 17 nationally ranked teams. Oklahoma will conclude the tournament tomorrow morning with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
