Oklahoma women’s golfer Lisa Meldrum was honored as a first-team All-Big 12 member today. The league’s head coaches voted on the all-conference teams. The honor comes a week after Meldrum won the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic April 12-13 in Norman.
This marks Meldrum’s fourth consecutive year to receive a Big 12 Conference postseason award. In 2003, she was named a second-team all-conference member and in 2002, she was honored as a first-team member. Meldrum was also named the 2001 Big 12 Newcomer of the Year. Meldrum is the only member on the squad to have received a conference postseason award for four straight years.
Meldrum, a senior from Montreal, Quebec, has led the Sooners virtually all season. Her current stroke average (74.8) is the lowest on the team and ranks third in the Big 12 Conference. In addition to winning the Susie Maxwell, Meldrum has recorded six top-five finishes this season. Meldrum is also currently ranked as the No. 29 golfer in the nation according to Golfweek.
Members of the first-team all-conference squad include Big 12 Player of the Year Christine Boucher (Kansas State) and Big 12 Newcomer of the Year Ashley Knoll (Oklahoma State). Missouri’s Stephanie Cooper was honored as Big 12 Coach of the Year.
