FULLERTON, Calif., -- The Sooners were slated to open the 2005 Kia Bash against UCLA at 2:30 p.m. (PST) on Friday but inclement weather has moved the game back (again) to a 5:30 p.m. (PST) start. The game time was pushed back a half hour earlier in the day and followed by a short rain delay before the new first pitch was set with the current time.
Rain fell in the Fullerton, Calif., area last night and this morning and early afternoon but the game is expected to be played while the Nevada versus Cal State Fullerton game has been postponed to Saturday at 11 a.m.
The Sooners (7-2), winners of seven straight games, are looking to avenge the two losses UCLA handed them in the 2004 NCAA Regional hosted in Oklahoma City.
OU will continue action in the Kia Bash, a tournament it won last year, with No. 4 Cal State Fullerton on Saturday at 9 p.m. (PST) and Nevada on Sunday 11 a.m. (PST).
After the tournament, the Sooners will return home for six games and the action will start when they host Arkansas Pine-Bluff on March 8 and 9. OU will then battle Northwest Louisiana State in a three-game set over the weekend (3/11-13) and conclude the home stand against Dallas Baptist on March 15. In their most recent home stand (six games), the Sooners swept Eastern Illinois and Western Illinois by outscoring the two teams by a combined score of 65-24.
