OU Men's Golf Finishes Tied for Third at Waikoloa Intercollegiate

NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma men's golf team finished its final round of the Taylor Made Waikoloa Intercollegiate tied for third place in Waikoloa, Hawaii on Friday. After shooting consecutive rounds of 281, the Sooners shot a final round total of 287 (-1), finishing the tournament with a three day score of 849 (-7). Oklahoma finished 13 strokes behing tournament winner UCLA. OU competed on the Beach Course (par 70, 6566) on Wednesday and the Kings' Course (par 72, 7074) on Thursday. All 26 teams finished out the tournament on the Kings' Course Friday.

OU was led by freshman Jim Renner (Plainville, Mass.) who shot a career-low 66 (-6) in the final round and finished in a tie for 11th place, also a career low. Senior John Kidwell (Dallas, Texas) carded a final round 75 and finished out the tournament tied for 16th place. Junior Blake Martin (Stigler, Okla.) remained consistent for the Sooners shooting an even par 72 in the final round, finishing tied for 22nd.

Junior Doug Manor (Garland, Texas) followed up his first two rounds of 71 with a final round 74 and finished tied for 41st. Rounding out the scoring for the Sooners was junior Martin Flores (Mansfield, Texas), who finished with a final round score of 76.

The Sooners return to action Feb. 23-25 at the Puerto Rico Classic in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
