NORMAN, Okla. – The back-to-back Big 12 Champion OU women’s gymnastics squad concluded its two-day Crimson and Cream intrasquad on Thursday at its temporary training facility in Norman. The Sooners competed on bars and floor yesterday, while wrapping up the event on vault and beam this afternoon.
Highlights from today's action included a pair of 9.9 vaults from redshirt freshman Natasha Kelley and senior Mary Mantle. Kelley showed no lingering effects from her Achilles tear last fall that sidelined her for the entire 2009 competition season.
“No words can describe how good it feels to finally be back,” said Kelley. “I’m ready for a successful year.”
Hollie Vise posted a 9.9 on beam, while reigning Big 12 beam co-champion Megan Ferguson proved again why she was an All-American on the apparatus last season with a solid routine that scored a 9.8.
In yesterday's action, Kristin Smith led the Sooners on floor with a 9.85, while Vise headlined the Oklahoma bars lineup with a 9.9. Freshman Brie Olson also notched a solid routine with a score of 9.8 on bars.

“Overall, I’m pleased with how we came out,” said head coach K.J. Kindler. “There are certainly some areas that we see needed room for improvement as we progress through the fall, but I was encouraged by their effort.”
Smith and Vise also debuted vaults during the intrasquad, while Vise has added a floor routine as well, possibly giving Kindler two more all-around options.
The Sooners open the season Jan. 8 at the Lloyd Noble Center against the Florida Gators.
