Oklahoma vs. TCU
November 27, 2001
Lloyd Noble Center - Norman, Okla.
Head Coach Sherri Coale
On facing bigger teams
"I thought we did a nice job of keeping the ball out of the post. (Sandora) Irvin is a very talented player, I thought we really made her work to get the ball. She got a little bit frustrated. Jamie Talbert did a very nice job with her feet, getting to the spot before Irvin. We tried a lot of different things. We ran a little bit of zone and a little bit on man. I think we did frustrate them and kept them out of any sort of rhythm. We did a good job getting to the spot and when they did catch it and both of our guards helped out."
On Sandora Irvin
"She's a young player and easily frustrated, but she will get better as the season goes on and as she gets experience."
On the pace of the game
"I don't feel like we played as hard as I would like us too. I was disappointed in the tempo of the game. We didn't show enough emotion and in order to win a Big 12 championship."
Guard Stacey Dales
" Knowing you have to rest your body and your mind, I let the game come to me."
Head Coach Jeff Mittie
On Oklahoma's defense
"They switched from a 1-3-1 to man-to-man and that confused some of our young players. They stay very active. (LaNeishea) Caufield and (Rosalind) Ross really get after you and they have a great anticipator in (Stacey) Dales. They're a veteran team that has played together and you can see that on both ends."
On his team's play
"We made a few runs, we just didn't take care of the ball. You can't make runs if you keep turning the ball over."
On first half play
"I felt in the first half, if we take care of the ball, we did things defensively and we disrupted them. Neither team was as sharp as the coaches would have liked."
