NORMAN, Okla. The University of Oklahoma men’s tennis team announced its 2005 spring schedule earlier this week. Oklahoma head coach Paul Lockwood, in his 18th year, begins competition on Jan. 21 against Northwestern in Chicago, Illinois.
In Big 12 action, Oklahoma welcomes Texas A&M, Texas and Oklahoma State to the OU Tim Headington Family Tennis Complex while playing Colorado, Baylor, Texas Tech and Nebraska on the road.
“I believe our schedule combines a tough Big 12 schedule with solid regional and national opponents,” said Lockwood. “It is one of the better schedules OU men’s tennis has had in quite a few years and after a solid fall with good results, my players are looking forward to beginning the dual match season in January.”
The Sooners’ non-conference opponents throughout the season include regional foes Arkansas and Tulsa, along with Oral Roberts, UNLV, Hawaii, Texas-Arlington and others. Oklahoma will also face Bradley and Cameron in Edmond, Okla., at the Oaktree Country Club on February 6.
The 2005 Big 12 Championships are April 29- May 1 in Austin, Texas, followed by the NCAA Regional Championships May 14-15 with the site to be determined.
