NORMAN, Okla.-- Following a 3-0 win over Missouri State in Friday's season opener, the OU soccer team (1-0) returns to action on Sunday, Aug. 23 at 7 p.m. in Norman against Sam Houston State (0-0).
The game is the second in the four-game home stand that the Sooners are enjoying to start off the year and the first meeting in the series with the Bearkats.
Sam Houston State was picked seventh in the Southland Conference after recording an identical finish in 2008 with a 4-5 conference mark. The Bearkats return 11 letterwinners and six starters from a team that was 9-7 overall a year ago.
Sunday's game marks "Fans First Day" as all fans in attendance receive free admission. The first 500 fans will also receive a 2009 schedule poster and the Sooners will sign autographs following the game.

Three freshmen contributed on each of the Sooners’ three goals as the OU soccer team (1-0) rolled to a 3-0 victory over visiting Missouri State (0-1) on Friday in front of 558 fans at John Crain Field. OU improved to 3-0-1 when opening a season at home and 7-6-1 all-time in season openers. In addition, the Sooners are undefeated in three meetings against Missouri State with the last coming in 2006.
OU continues the four-game home stand and hosts a pair of in-state rivals next weekend. On Friday, Aug. 28, the Sooners will entertain Oral Roberts at 7 p.m. at John Crain Field. On Sunday, Aug. 30, OU welcomes Tulsa for a 7 p.m. contest.
