NORMAN, Okla. - Senior Patricia Aoki was named Big 12 Gymnast of the Week by the conference offices Wednesday afternoon. Aoki has been instrumental in the Sooners five meet win streak and was the catalyst behind the squad breaking the school scoring record on Senior Night last week.

"Patricia is the best senior gymnast in the Big 12," said OU Head Coach Steve Nunno. "She really deserved this award. She is the force behind our squad and has been an ideal team leader all season. She was at her best last weekend and she only expects to top herself in the next few meets."

The Sao Paolo, Brazil, native logged the first perfect ten of her career against Texas Women's University and Cenentary. The mark broke the OU school record and landed the senior in first place on the event. Aoki's all-around total of 39.65 was a career-high and just short of the school record of 39.675. She garnered three event titles (including all-around) and finished in the top three of every event. In addition to the perfect floor exercise score, Aoki won the vault with a 9.95 and finished third on beam and bars with 9.850 on both events. She has now recorded 17 career-highs in the last seven meets.

Aoki is highest ranked senior all-arounder in the Big 12 where she currently stands at No. 3.
