NORMAN, Okla. - Senior forward Eduardo Najera was named Phillips 66 Big 12 Player of the Week for his performances against 16th-ranked Texas and Baylor last week, the conference office announced today. It marks the second time this season that Najera has earned the honor.

In a nationally televised ESPN contest last Monday, the 6-8 star scored 18 points and grabbed 16 rebounds, one shy of his career high, while also recording four assists in OU's 83-59 triumph. In Saturday's 68-59 win at Baylor, Najera scored 20 points and hauled in another 16 boards while adding three assists. He registered 16 points and 10 rebounds in the second half alone.

Najera has recorded five straight double-doubles and has nine in his last 12 games. He has 11 double-doubles on the season to rank second in the conference. The Chihuahua, Mexico, native is averaging 20.0 points and 14.6 rebounds over the last five games and is averaging 19.5 points, 9.6 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.7 steals on the year.

Najera, who ranks 11th in career scoring at OU (1,431 points) and eighth in rebounding (798 boards), needs 32 points to become just the second Sooner (Ryan Minor) to rank in the school's all-time top 10 in scoring, rebounding, steals and blocked shots.

Ranked 16th in the latest AP poll and 17th in the ESPN/USA Today version, Oklahoma hosts Kansas State Tuesday night at 7 p.m. and Oklahoma State Saturday at 3 p.m.
