NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma men's golf team shot a first-round score of 292 and a second-round 296 for a two-day total of 588 (+12) at the NCAA Central Regional at Colbert Hills Golf Course in Manhattan, Kan. OU jumped six spots in the second round and are only four strokes out of the top 10. Illinois is the leader after two rounds with a team score of 570 (-6). The top 10 teams will advance to the NCAA Championships May 27-30.

The Sooners were led by junior Doug Manor (Garland, Texas) who shot a second-round 70 (-2) and is one stroke under par for the tournament. Manor currently stands in a tie for 16th place.

Martin Flores (Mansfield, Texas) remained consistent for the Sooners, shooting his second consecutive round of 73 (+1) and is tied for 40th place. Freshman Jim Renner (Plainville, Mass.) carded a second-round 76 and has a two-day total of 149 (+5), putting him in a tie for 70th place.

Rounding out the scoring for Oklahoma were junior Blake Martin (Stilger, Okla.) and senior John Kidwell (Dallas, Texas), who shot a 77 and 78, respectively, and are tied for 87th and 118th place.

Final-round action begins Saturday morning in Manhattan, Kan.
