CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Oklahoma senior Chris Sweeney led the way for a group of Oklahoma men’s distance runners in action Saturday at the Kent Taylor - Joe Hilton North Carolina Invitational. Sweeney took third in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:51.22 in individual season-opening action for many. Sweeney was the top collegiate finisher in the event and was less than a second off the winning time.
Rob Sorrell was fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:26.72, his second-best time of the season behind the 9:11.11 run at the Stanford Invitational on March 25.
Jacob Boone led a group of seven Oklahoma runners in the 1,500-meter run, clocking a time of 3:47.27, which is the fourth-best time in the Big 12 this season.
