The No. 11 University of Oklahoma women’s golf team played two rounds Tuesday and is in first place with a 596 (+20) at the Kent Youel Invitational in Oahu, Hawaii. The Sooners recorded the lowest score for each round with a 297 (+9) and 299 (+11), respectively. The Sooners lead second-place Washington by six strokes. OU has now led after the first two rounds twice this season and will go for its second win of the season Wednesday.

Senior Lisa Meldrum continues to lead the Sooner squad and is tied for second after shooting an even par 72 and a second-round 74 (+2) for a total of 146. Meldrum trails the leader Paige MacKenzie (Washington) by three strokes. Freshman Jaclyn Stelzer, playing in only her second collegiate tournament, is tied for fourth after carding a first-round 75 (+3) and a career-low 73 (+1) in the second round. Junior Emily Milberger recorded a two-over-par 74 in the first round and a second-round 76 (+4) for a total of 150. Sophomore Amparo Gala carded a 76 (+4) in both rounds and is currently tied for 22nd. While senior Hope Edge shot a 76 (+4) and 77 (+5) and is tied for 26th.

"Our team did really well in the tough wind conditions," Head Coach Carol Ludvigson said. "I’m proud of our team for staying in it mentally. They did a great job. We hope to put a low score on the board in the final round and win another tournament. It has been an outstanding team effort."

The 17-team field is playing at the 5,900-yard, par-72 Kapolei Golf Course. The tournament concludes with the final 18 holes on Wednesday.
