Sooners Set To Compete In Price's Give Em Five Intercollegiate
The University of Oklahoma women's golf team is headed to Las Cruces, N.M., to play in the Price's Give Em Five Intercollegiate Oct. 6-8. The tournament, hosted by New Mexico State, will be played at the 6,319-yard, par-72 University Golf Course.

The three-day event is formatted with 18 holes each day. Monday and Tuesday competition will begin at 7:44 a.m. Wednesday's 8:00 a.m. shotgun start will begin play.

Competing for the Sooners will be Hope Edge, Amparo Gala, Lisa Meldrum, and Emily Milberger and Jaclyn Stelzer. Alana Donaldson will be competing as an individual.

The 15-team field includes Arkansas-Little Rock, Baylor, Florida State, Hawaii, Kansas State, LSU, New Mexico State, North Texas, Northern Arizona, Oklahoma, San Jose State, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas Tech, UTEP and Western New Mexico.


Coach Ludvigson Says...
"We are playing against another competitive field with 15 teams ranked in the top 25. We always seem to play well at this course. We are looking for a team win as well as an individual win from Lisa Meldrum, who continues to be on a roll."


Oklahoma Takes Fourth Place in Ohio
The Sooners placed fourth last weekend (Sept. 27-28) with a score of 900 (+36) at the Lady Northern Intercollegiate in Columbus, Ohio. The squad finished just seven strokes behind tournament champion Texas.

Senior Lisa Meldrum finished second and played in a three-way playoff for first place. Janice Olivenica of Texas beat Meldrum on the second playoff hole. Meldrum recorded a total of 218 (+2).

Sophomore Amparo Gala tied for 11th with a 226 (+10) while junior Emily Milberger posted a 229 (+13) to tie for 18th place. Senior Hope Edge recorded a 231 (+15) and finished 21st. Freshman Jaclyn Stelzer competed in her first collegiate tournament and finished tied for 28th with a 234 (+18). Sophomore Cathryn Uselton shot a three-round 250 (+34) and finished tied for 75th.

Earned second place honors after competing in a three-way playoff at the Lady Northern Intercollegiate ... Placed second at the NCAA Fall Preview with a score of 214 ... Averaging a team-low 72.0 strokes per round.

Hope Edge: Placed 21st with a score of 231 at the Lady Northern Intercollegiate ... Shot a score of 220 at the NCAA Fall Preview to tie for 18th ... Ranks second on team with a 75.2 scoring average.

Emily Milberger: Recorded a 229 and tied for 11th at the Lady Northern Intercollegiate ... Tied for 56th with a 233 at last week's NCAA Fall Preview ... Averaging 77.0 strokes per round.

Amparo Gala: Tied for 11th after shooting a 226 at the Lady Northern Intercollegiate ... Recorded a 227 and finished tied for 36th at the NCAA Fall Preview ... Averaging 75.5 strokes per round.

Jaclyn Stelzer: In her first collegiate action, tied for 28th with a total of 234 at the Lady Northern Intercollegiate ... Averaging 78.0 strokes per round.

Alana Donaldson: Competing in her first collegiate tournament as an individual.
