NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma men's golf team shot a first-round score of 292 (+4) and currently stands in 20th place at the NCAA Central Regional at Colbert Hills Golf Course in Manhattan, Kan. Illinois is the leader after the first round with a team score of 275 (-13). The top 10 teams will advance to the NCAA Championships May 27-30. Currently, the Sooners sit only six shots out of 10th place.

The Sooners were led by four players during the first round. Juniors Martin Flores (Mansfield, Texas), Doug Manor (Garland, Texas) and Blake Martin (Stilger, Okla.), and freshman Jim Renner (Plainville, Mass.) all shot a 73 (+1) and are currently tied for 57th place heading into the second round.

Rounding out the scoring for Oklahoma was senior John Kidwell (Dallas, Texas) who carded a first-round 77 (+5). Kidwell is tied for 122nd place.

Second-round action begins Friday morning at 7:12 a.m., in Manhattan, Kan.
