OU Men's Golf Tied for Fourth at Waikoloa Intercollegiate

NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma men's golf team finished its second round of the Taylor Made Waikoloa Intercollegiate in four way tie for fourth place in Waikoloa, Hawaii on Thursday. The Sooners remained consistent, finishing the day with a team score of 281 (-7) for the second straight day and have a two day total of 562 (-6). Oklahoma is only eight strokes behing tournament leader UCLA heading into Friday's final round. OU competed on the Beach Course (par 70, 6566) on Wednesday and the Kings' Course (par 72, 7074) on Thursday. All 26 teams will finish out the tournament on the Kings' Course Friday.

OU was led by senior John Kidwell (Dallas, Texas), who fired a second round 68 (-4) and is in a six way tie for second place at five-under-par. Four shots behind Kidwell is junior Blake Martin (Stigler, Okla.) who followed his opening round 72 with a second round 69 (-3), putting him in a tie for 21st place.

Doug Manor (Garland, Texas) carded his second straight round of 71 and sits in a tie for 28th place. Freshman Jim Renner (Plainville, Mass.) shot a second round 76 and sits at three-over-par for the tournament.

Rounding out the scoring for the Sooners was junior Martin Flores (Mansfield, Texas), who finished with a second round score of 73 (+1).

The Sooners begin final-round action Friday morning.
