NORMAN, Okla. --  The Oklahoma women’s golf team shot a second-round 293 (+5) Tuesday at the 16-team Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown to fall to seventh place with a 36-hole total of 580 (+4). The Sooners are only six strokes out of second place with one round remaining at the Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nev.

UC Davis, ranked No. 24 by Golfweek, leads the event with a 36-hole score of 567 (-9). UC Irvine and Pepperdine are tied for second place, seven shots out.

“The last few holes played tough for us today,” said OU head coach Veronique Drouin. “A.C. [Anne-Catherine Tanguay] played solid for us and has been consistent all week, which has been great. We have one more round tomorrow and just need a strong finish.”

Tanguay shot a 2-under-par 70 Tuesday, moving up 15 spots into a tie for 10th place out of 89 competitors with a two-round 142 (-2). The sophomore from Quebec City, Quebec, birdied four holes on the front nine before playing the back side at 2 over.

Senior Brooke Collins and sophomore Chirapat Jao-Javanil each shot a 74 (+2) in the second round. Jao-Javanil fell to a 20th-place tie with her two-round total of 145 (+1), while Collins improved by three strokes from the first round to move into a tie for 55th place at +7.

Sophomore Emily Collins stands in a tie for 31st place after shooting a second-round 75 (+3), bringing her total to 147 (+3).

Junior Taylor Schmidt, who like Emily Collins shot even par in the first round, carded a second-round 76 (+4) to bring her two-round total to 148 (+4). Schmidt stands in a tie for 38th place.

Oklahoma junior Jacki Marshall, who is playing as an individual, fired a second-round 75 (+3) and is in a tie for 55th place with a two-round 151 (+7).

Wednesday’s final round begins at 10 a.m. CT with a shotgun start. Live stats will be available on
