DALLAS  --  The University of Oklahoma men’s golf squad stands ninth at the rain-suspended Baylor Intercollegiate, held at Royal Oaks Country Club in Dallas, Texas. Second-round action was suspended for the day midway through the round due to inclement weather, marking the second-straight event the Sooners have been forced off the course due to rain.

After finding itself in 11th after posting a 305 (+21) during Monday morning’s opening round at the par-71, 7068-yard layout, OU was even par as a team during afternoon play, which stood as the third-best second-round score before the delay.

The Sooners head to Tuesday’s action as the second-highest unranked opponent on the leaderboard of the 12-team field, just four shots behind in-state foe Tulsa.

Leading the Oklahoma charge was a pair of seniors, as Tyler Rody and Ben Blundell are in a nine-way tie for ninth-place at +2.  Both found red figures early during the second round as Blundell and Rody are two-under and one-under, respectively.  Rody shot 74 during first-round play, while Blundell was a stroke back after opening the 54-hole event with a 75.

Ryan Sirman is currently tied for 44th at +8 through nine holes of his second round after opening with a 7-over-par 78.

Rounding out the Oklahoma team scoring are Riley Pumphrey and Cole Wiederkehr in T51st and 64th, respectively.  Pumphrey is nine-over through 27 holes after matching Sirman’s first-round 78, while Wiederkehr is +13 through 24 holes of his collegiate debut.

Iowa (+5) heads to Tuesday’s play with a one-stroke lead over defending NCAA Champion Texas A&M.  Joakim Mikkelsen of tournament-host Baylor, Iowa’s Vince India and Texas A&M’s Cameron Peck currently lead the medalist race at -1.

Start time for the resumption of play Tuesday will be announced later this evening by the tournament staff and can be found at http://golfstatresults.com//public/index.cfm?tournament_id=1614.  Golf fans can follow live scoring Tuesday at that link as well.
