DALLAS, Texas - The University of Oklahoma men's golf team shot a final-round 290 to finish in eighth place at the Taylor Made Red River Classic at the Dallas Athletic Club (6,766 yards, par 72) on Tuesday. The Sooners finished with a total score of 854 (-10), while OU sophomore Martin Flores (Mansfield, Texas) shot the lowest three-round total of his Oklahoma career to tie for second place. Flores shot two-under par in the final round to finish with a score of 206 (-10). It was his second top-two finish since placing second at the NCAA Central Regional last season. The University of Texas won the team championship while Texas' Jason Hartwick took home individual honors.

"Martin came out and played exceptionally well today and yesterday," said Oklahoma Head Coach Jim Ragan. "He made seven birdies today and at one point cut Jason Hartwick's lead to one stroke, but he made a couple mistakes and they cost him. Even so, he was able came back and tie for second."

OU junior John Kidwell (Dallas, Texas) posted his third-straight 72 to tie for 35th at even-par (216). One shot back was senior Cody Freeman (Arnett, Okla.), who also shot a 72 in the last round, good for 42nd.

"We were disappointed to finish where we did today because we were in a position to have a good finish and possibly win the tournament going into the final round and we didn't play as well as we were capable of playing," said Ragan. "Hopefully, we will learn from this experience and will be better prepared the next time we are in a position like that."

Junior Parker Foster (Tulsa, Okla.) tied for 51st with a total of 220 (+4) and senior J.D Robertson (Little Rock, Ark.) rounded out the scoring for OU tying for 59th with a 221 (+5).

Oklahoma had four individuals competing in Dallas and they were led by junior Matt Cohn (La Jolla, Calif.), who shot a final-round 74 to tie Robertson for 59th. Junior Blake Martin (Stigler, Okla.) fired his career-low round as a Sooner (70) on the final day of action to tie for 70th with a final score of 225 (+9). Junior Bridger Cox (Ardmore, Okla.) posted a final-round 76 to finish 76th and redshirt-freshman Brad Purcell (Norman, Okla.) concluded his first collegiate tournament with a 74 to finish 82nd.

The Sooners have a month to prepare for their final tournament of the fall season at the Golf World Invitational in Hilton Head, S.C. The tournament is scheduled for Nov. 9-11 and will be played at Arthur Hills Course (6,651 yards, par 72).
