NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma softball team recorded a pair of wins Wednesday afternoon over Stephen F. Austin. The Sooners (8-2) won 4-3 in eight innings in the first contest and took the second, 3-1. The Ladyjacks fell to 3-9 on the year.

The Sooners trailed early in the first contest when Amber Price hit a solo home run over the right field fence in the third inning. OU got on the board in the bottom of the fourth when pinch runner Evan Sallis scored on a Lindsey Vandever single. Sallis ran for Samantha Ricketts, who singled. Sallis then stole second and advanced to third on an error.

The Ladyjacks put another run on the board in the sixth when Kendal Harper singled. Jessica Arana reached on a fielder's choice, while Harper moved to second and then to third on an OU miscue. Harper scored on Kayla Gutowski's fielder's choice. The Sooners prevented SFA from adding any additional runs on the board when Arana was thrown out at home by Katie Norris from right field.

SFA led off the seventh with a double by Karissa Jones and posted runners at the corners on an OU error. With two on and no outs, the Sooners turned to senior D.J. Mathis. Mathis forced the Ladyjacks into a fielder's choice and a lineout and struck out one to end the inning.

Trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the inning, Vandever was issued a one-out walk and advance to second on a ground out. With two out, Norris re-entered to pinch hit and singled, scoring Vandever to force the extra inning.

SFA re-gained the lead in the top of the eighth when Harper scored on a throwing error. With the game on the line, the Sooners rallied in the bottom half of the inning. Under the international tiebreaker rule, Haley Anderson was placed on second and Dani Dobbs reached on a fielder's choice, moving Anderson to third. Dobbs stole and junior Amber Flores walked to load the bases. Sophomore Krystle Huey singled, scoring Anderson to tie the game. Ricketts' RBI single in the next at-bat scored Dobbs' game-winning run.

Ricketts went 2-for-4 with one run driven in and Vandever was 1-for-2 with one run scored and one RBI. Huey and Norris each went 1-for-3.

Mathis picked up the win, moving to 4-2 on the year. Starter Kirsten Allen went six innings, giving up two runs. Allen struck out six and allowed four hits.

In the second contest, OU scored two in the bottom of the third when Sallis singled and stole second. Huey sacrificed Sallis to third. Ricketts doubled to score Sallis and Vandever followed with a double to score Ricketts. Oklahoma added another run in the fourth following a Haley Anderson triple. With Anderson on third, sophomore Wendy Trott reached on a error and Anderson scored.

The Ladyjacks' lone run was scored in the top of the fifth on a Kim Daley home run to left field.

Ricketts went 2-for-3 with a run scored and one driven in. Flores and Vandever each went 1-for-3 and Norris, Anderson and Sallis were 1-for-2.

Mathis picked up her first save of the season as freshman starter Allee Allen went 6.1 innings to move to 2-0 on the year. Allen gave up one run, walked two and struck out seven.

The Sooners return to action Friday at the Cathedral City Classic in Cathedral City, Calif. OU opens competition at 8 p.m. CT on Friday against Cal Poly and takes on defending national champion and third-ranked Arizona State at 10:30 p.m. CT.
