The Oklahoma women’s golf team has moved into second place after two rounds at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic. OU recorded a 296 Monday morning, for a two-day total of 589, which trails No. 1 Duke (Golfweek) by 11 strokes. The No. 15 Sooners are competing against a 15-team field that includes 10 top-25 teams. The tournament is being played at the 6,000-yard, par-72 Dorado Del Mar Country Club in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Senior Lisa Meldrum is leading the way for the Sooners after shooting a three-over-par 75. Meldrum is currently tied for fourth with a two-round total of 145. She trails the leader Elizabeth Janangelo (Duke) by three strokes. Also in the top 10 for the Sooners is sophomore Amparo Gala who is currently tied for sixth after carding a 73 (+1) for the second consecutive day. Sophomore Emily Milberger recorded a 74 (+2) in consecutive rounds and is tied for 15th. Senior Hope Edge shot a two-over-par 74, two strokes better than yesterday, and is tied for 22nd heading into final round play. Freshman Jaclyn Stelzer is tied for 60th after recording an 80 (+8) for a two-round total of 161.
Oklahoma will wrap up the tournament on Tuesday with the final 18 holes.
