NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma men's golf team finished the second round of the Puerto Rico Classic in 11th place in Palmer, Puerto Rico on Monday. The Sooners finished the day with a team score of 288 (E), the third lowest score of the day. The tournament leader is N.C. State, who shot an even-par 288 in the first round and a 286 (-2) in the second. The tournament is being played on the River Course (par 72, 6,945) at the Westin Rio Mar Country Club.

OU was led by freshman Jim Renner (Plainville, Mass.) who fired a tournament-low 67 (-5) in the second round and is tied for 13th place.

Senior John Kidwell (Dallas, Texas) rebounded from an opening round 80, carding a 69 (-3) in the second round putting him in a tie for 28th place. Junior Blake Martin (Stigler, Okla.) remained consistent for the Sooners, following his first round 78 with a second round score of 75. Martin is tied for 51st place.

Rounding out the scoring for the Sooners are juniors Doug Manor (Garland, Texas) and Martin Flores (Mansfield, Texas), who shot second round scores of 77 and 78, respectively, and are tied for 69th place.

The Sooners begin final-round action Tuesday morning.
