ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The University of Oklahoma men's tennis team opened the fall slate Friday afternoon in match play action in style, winning all three singles matches and one doubles match at the Navy Invitational.
Sergey Avdeyev, Federico Chavarria and Ryan Thomas all disposed of their competition in singles. The trio handled their business in doubles action as well, winning both of their matches.
"I am very pleased with the way we started and Navy is a good opponent," head coach Paul Lockwood said.
Avdeyev, playing No.1 singles, defeated Nate Nelms of Navy in two sets, winning 7-5, 6-2. Chavarria, playing No. 3, defeated Jason Hill of Navy by a score of (1-6), 6-1, 6-3. Thomas, at No. 5 disposed of Alex James of Navy in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4.
