A presentation honoring Oklahoma's 2003 NCAA Champion wrestlers Robbie Waller and Teyon Ware will take place at halftime of Saturday's OU football game versus Missouri. Last season's Sooner team placed third at the NCAA Championships for a second consecutive season and boasted two individual champions for the first time since 1985.
Waller, who is currently a graduate assistant coach with the tigers, earned the national title as a senior by defeating Pittsburgh's Carl Fronhoffer in the 174 pound finals 7-2. He compiled a 31-7 record in his final season as a Sooner. Waller won 103 matches in his four-year career at Oklahoma and competed at the NCAA Championships each season.
Ware ended last season with 20-consecutive wins, while earning the Big 12 and National Championships. He became the first true freshman since 1990 to win an individual NCAA title. Ware was the only wrestler in the conference to earn Big 12 wrestler of the week honors twice. Ware was also named outstanding wrestler at the 2003 Big 12 tournament.
