DALLAS, Texas    Oklahoma junior left fielder Norrelle Dickson has been tabbed the Big 12 Conference’s Player of the Week for her efforts in games played May 1-7.  The award, the final one presented for the 2006 season, was the second career weekly accolade for Dickson and her first this season.

Dickson, the Big 12 batting average leader, led the Sooners to a 3-0 week against non-conference opponents Arkansas and North Texas.  She compiled a .818 batting average (9-for-11), including a double.

The Orange, Calif. left fielder also recorded a .989 slugging percentage and a 0.833 on-base percentage while tallying a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.

In the last two games of the regular season, Dickson was 7-for-7.  She was 2-for-4 in OU’s 5-4 victory over Arkansas and 4-for-4 in game two of the doubleheader while posting her eighth double of year.  Against North Texas, Dickson extended her streak
at the plate after going 3-for-3 with one run scored.

Collecting Big 12 Pitcher of the Week honors was right-handed hurler Ashley DeBuhr of Nebraska.

Oklahoma opens Big 12 Championship play this Thursday at 11 a.m. at the ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City.  The fifth-seeded Sooners will take on Texas A&M, a fourth seed, for the fourth time this season.

A win would pit the Sooners against the winner of top-seeded Texas and the play-in game winner of Oklahoma State and Iowa State at 5 p.m. Thursday night.   An OU loss would place the Sooners in a 2 p.m. game on Thursday.
