NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma head women's basketball coach Sherri Coale announced Wednesday the signing of Krista Sanchez (Springdale, Ark.) and Kendra Moore (Ardmore, Okla.) to a national letter of intent for the 2003-04 academic year.

"We are incredibly excited about this recruiting class," said Coale. "They immediately improve our team speed and athleticism, and they are great kids who really seem to fit. They will be an exciting class for Sooner fans to follow."

Sanchez, a 6-1 forward, is ranked as the 18th best wing player in the nation according to the most recent All-Star Girls Reports. She averaged 20.0 points, seven rebounds and three assists as a junior at Springdale High School. Sanchez is a two-time All-State, all-conference and state all-tournament team selection (2001, 2002). Following her junior season, Sanchez was named to Street & Smith's and the National Women's Basketball Service High School All-American teams. Plus, she has earned Springdale Morning News and Northwest Arkansas Times Player of the Year (2002) and Sophomore of the Year (2001) honors. Sanchez was invited to participate in the Nike and Adidas Top-10 All-American camps this past summer where she was named to the All-Star UpperClassman Team. Her high school coach is Sandy Wright.

"Krista is an extremely talented and versatile basketball player," Coale said. "She's a perfect fit for our program because she's smart and skilled and she loves to run."

Moore, a 5-5 guard, averaged 19.0 points, seven steals and eight assists per game as a junior. She also was named to the Daily Oklahoman Super 5 Team and Daily Oklahoman Player of the Year last season. Moore will miss her senior season due to an ACL injury she suffered during the Sooner Session team camp in July.

"Kendra Moore has all the tools necessary for becoming a great point guard," said Coale. "She has uncanny speed and is an excellent passer. And she's just a great kid. We're looking forward to coaching her for the next four year."

Coale expects to sign one of the nation's top power forwards on Thursday.
