NORMAN, Okla. - Oklahoma sophomore gymnast, Kasie Tamayo, earned Co-Big 12 Gymnast of the Week honors after leading the Sooners to a victory over Texas Woman's last weekend with a 10.0 on the balance beam and a program-high 39.675 in the all-around. The perfect score on the beam was a Big 12 first and it earned Tamayo a share of the school record. Iowa State's Sissy Huey also scored a 39.675 in the all-around to earn gymnast of the week accolades.

Tamayo won the floor exercise (9.950), tied for second on the uneven bars (9.875) and finished third on the vault (9.850) to propel her to the highest all-around score in OU history. The Sacramento, Calif., native was also gymnast of the week on Feb. 5, and the Sooners have claimed the honor six of 10 weeks this season. Tamayo is ranked No. 9 in the all-around, tied for 10th on the balance beam and is No. 18 on the floor exercise in this week's GymInfo National rankings.

The sixth-ranked Sooners (12-2) will be in action on Saturday, March 23, at the Big 12 Championships in Lincoln, Neb. Meet time with No. 7 Nebraska, No. 8 Iowa State and Missouri is set for 7 p.m. at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.
