Return to Recap

  Head Coach Bob Stoops

Opening comments:
"You are sitting there with a 50 to 10 lead in the fourth quarter, you have done a lot right. These guys came in leading, top of the league, first or second in the league in scoring and yards and this whole thing, and you are sitting there in that position going into the fourth quarter, that is a good day in all parts of the game. You got a defensive touchdown. You hold them to that point level until going into the fourth quarter. Offense was great, running the ball, throwing it. Landry (Jones) had an excellent day. Ryan Broyles, Demarco Murray again had huge nights. Kicking game was excellent. I thought Jimmy Stevens did a really good job kicking. Tress Way had 50 yards punting the ball. Coverage was great, so it was a solid day. It was good to play that way."

On how rewarding it is to play well on the road:
"We just did what we usually do. It was just about playing like we are capable of. You guys' storylines aren't in our locker rooms and in our meetings. We know how we can play and all these other teams these other years have nothing to do with what we are doing this year. We had an opportunity to come down here and give ourselves a chance to stay in the championship hunt and that is what we did. I was really pleased with their overall work habits through the week and the attitude of our team coming in."

On the defensive pressure on Robert Griffin III:
"It was good. The coverage was great so he kept having to squeeze the ball. Our guys, for the most part, did a really good job of staying in front of him and containing him. We got pressure, got a couple of sacks, got a defensive touchdown off of pressure. He got out a few times, but he is a good player. He is going to do that, but I?thought overall we were very effective in handling him."

  Junior WR Ryan Broyles

On his team's fast start:
"We definitely came out strong that is what we needed to get on the road. We limited our penalties and mistakes and that is what you have to do on the road."

On how he feels going into next week's game:
"We feel real good after this win. We were clicking on all cylinders. The defense played well. We are looking forward to the challenge."

On the offense making big plays:
"Teams try to limit us on things like that. We really didn't stretch the field at the beginning of the season, but I feel like we are doing a good job of that now. It gets defenses on edge."

  Sophomore QB Landry Jones

On the precision of the offense:
"I just thought we came out and played the way we are capable of playing. Everyone played in practice the way they should have and we played great. We executed all night long. I?was really proud of the offense and the way they played, especially the offensive line. We got the run game going and a little play action pass there was really good for us."

On the plays down field:
"We hit a couple of skinnys and Ryan got a big pass. Then Demarco had a long touchdown pass were he just outflanked the defense and took it to the house. That was real exciting and exciting to see us play like that."

  Head Coach Art Briles

Opening statement:
"It's like I told the players, we're not going to let this deal beat us up because it would be easy to do that and I don't like doing easy things. We're going to do the tough thing. We're going to stand and be proud and look at what happened over the season because going into this game we had already decided that once this game is over, the 2010 football season is over.

"Now we've got a one-game season coming up. It's a bowl game. That's the way we're going to look at it. We're going to look at everything schematically, and personnel wise we're going to make sure we do what gives us the best opportunity to win the bowl game because that's our goal. We're not just satisfied with being in a bowl game, we're going to go fight hard to win the bowl game.

"The game tonight, Oklahoma is a great football team. They have been a great football team for a long time. I'm not entirely sure, but I think they were the number one (ranked) football team in the nation five weeks ago when they went to Missouri. They are just always going to be tough.

"What you cannot do is mishandle the punt on the seven (yard line), can't not convert a fourth down on your own 32 yard line, you can't have a fake punt called and not execute, you can't have an interception return for a touchdown and you can't have a safety. We had those. If you have those things against a good football team then it's not going to be pretty, and it wasn't pretty tonight. Like I said, you're not looking at a dead man. You're looking at a man that is proud of this football team and proud of his people that he's been around, thankful and grateful to be at Baylor University, and anxious about the days ahead to be in a bowl game."

On losing momentum early in the game:
"We knew we had to have some good things early and capitalize on them, and we didn't. We had a play called on the fourth down that we felt really, really comfortable about and didn't convert there. That was a little more of a downer because we felt like it could have potentially been a 35 or 40-yard gain. It kind of set us back up but they're a good football team. They're good on both sides of the ball and special teams."

On the defensive struggles:
"(Oklahoma) was just executing. They're playing fast, they're high tempo, and they're doing it with really good people and with a lot of confidence right now. They're playing at a pretty high level. I?think they're playing with a whole lot of purpose in what they've got going for themselves and what they've got coming up. You've got to be careful about what car you get into because it may go faster than what you're ready to go."

  Safety Byron Landor Briles

On Baylor's performance against Oklahoma:
"We did not start off as fast as we needed to. We got a turnover early, but we did not use it to our advantage. We did not get the momentum off of it. That is pretty much it. We did not start off the way we needed to against a team like that in order to really do something special. You have to start fast in order to beat good teams like that. They are a good team."

On Baylor's defensive play:
"It is football, that is part of the game. What makes the difference is teams that can stop teams in those situations. Those teams are real good teams. We had a lot of short field today, but it is our job to go out there and stop them. A?lot of times in the short field they would give and we did not. That is everybody across the board. We have got to do a better job of trusting each other and trusting each other just to do each others job individually, and that way as a defense we will be a lot better."

  Quarterback Robert Griffin III

On Baylor's performance in the first half:
"We cannot worry about what other people are going to do to us, that is the biggest thing. You cannot come into the game wondering what they are going to do. I think we are best on offense when we just go out and play. When we pick up the tempo and things like that. We will get back to doing that in practice and I know coach will be ready for that in the bowl game."

On picking up the offensive tempo:
"The faster we move, the better we play. We have got a lot of speed on our team. It might not be the best call into a certain defense that they have, but because we have got play makers. You get the ball in their hand and they can do things. That is what we were doing later in the game and I know we will do that in the bowl game as well."

  Defensive Tackle Phil Taylor

On Baylor's performance against Oklahoma:
"It was tough, but we have got to start faster. (In the) Third and fourth quarter we started to get going, but we have got to start faster. We cannot let a good team like that get up quick."

On forcing a turnover during Oklahoma's first possession:
"We started on a good note. On turnovers you have got to capitalize, that is all."
